The saga of my N-Fab steps
The saga of my N-Fab steps
As long as I've owned my current F-150, I've wanted a nice, glossy, black set of N-Fab nerf bars (or steps...whatever you want to call them). I've been parting out my '84 Mustang for a while and buying parts for my other vehicles as I went along. It only took a few parts sold before I could finally get the steps. A quick Google Shopping search gave me the best price from a website called Streetsideauto.com.
I ordered the steps on 3/4. I received them on 3/7. When I got home from work I took everything out of the box and was disappointed to see that the bag of hardware was ripped open and mostly missing. Streetsideauto.com got me a new set of hardware from N-Fab. I got the hardware on 3/12 and again was pretty excited to get these on my truck. I pulled off all the bubble wrap and the ends were all dented up.
I'll hand it to the customer service team at streetsideauto.com, they quickly emailed me a call tag for the bad set and sent me a second set of steps. I got the second set on 3/18. When I opened them up, the bag of hardware had been emptied inside the box. The nuts/bolts were loose in the box and the steps were all dinged and chipped. I cut bait with SSA and they refunded all my money.
So, then I thought I'd find some place that would ship them on a pallet. My local 4 Wheel Parts!!! Their website is a total turd so I called the 1-800 number and placed my order. The guy on the phone said he had them in a Dallas warehouse and would get them on the next truck to Denver. Their ship-to-store is free. Well, an hour later, someone from my local 4WP called and said he didn't see the set in Dallas. But he had a set in Jacksonville, FL he could get shipped in. The catch? Heck, I'd have to pay an extra $120 (that's 30% of the cost) for shipping and I'd still have to pay CO tax once they arrived. BS. If you can't see the set in Dallas and you can't tell me if they're already in transit, let's just give a couple days. A couple days pass and both the set in Dallas and the set in Jacksonville are gone. I'd have to wait for them to get the steps straight from N-fab. This week on 5/14 my steps came in to my local 4WP and a hurried home to put them on. Damn, they look good. Almost good enough to make it worth a two-month lead time.
The next day they got a chip on my commute.

Gah what a bummer man! I'm sorry to hear that! I've been a fan of those N-Fab steps for quite a while. I was going to purchase a set soon but just found out that an offer I out in on a house a couple months back was accepted yesterday. So I'm gonna need money for makin' it livable haha. When I get them I'll probably be getting them from Transamerican Wholesale which I think is 4wheelparts parent company.
