Painting chrome grille shell
Painting chrome grille shell
Hey everyone, I may or may not have posted this before. I can't seem to find it anywhere though. So here is my dilemma. I have a 2002 F-150 Supercrew XLT 4.6L, and it has the fake chrome plastic grille shell around the grille and headlights. I honestly cannot stand the look of the chrome, especially with my smoked headlights that I have. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or tips on how to sand it or scuff it good enough to spray it with our paint gun the same color as the truck. And the same goes for the mirrors. They all look so much better when it matches the color of the truck. Any tips on what to sand with/how much sanding needs to be done in order to get a good coat of paint to stick to it?
Thanks!

Plastidip the chrome no need to scuff the chrome just wash then clean with alcohol then spray.I'm not sure if it comes in blue but I know it comes in black.I did my lower quarters, grill badges with it and it looks good.check out https://www.dipyourcar.com/home.php

Clean, scuff with grey scotch brite pad until dull, hit with Bulldog adhesion promotor one even coat, 4 light coats of color coat, 3 coats of PPG clear coat at a body shop and you'll be problem free.
