Cool Blue interior lights??

I'm looking for blue interior lights - any ideas? I've thought about getting the small neon lights and hardwiring them underneath my dash in place of the regular bulbs, but I don't know how much current they draw and I don't want to short the wires out - any ideas?? I'm also looking for a blue bulb to swap out the dome light to make it blue as well. I'll leave the map lights alone for obvious reasons...

Not particularly - I'm just a blue fanatic.

I think I'll give the 6" neon tubes a try, but I'm going to wire a switch so I can flip back and forth between the regular lights and the neon.

Thanks ddaytona - your post is what got me to thinking about doing this in the first place. I'd have emailed you but I for some strange erason thought you posted those pics in November 2000 - I keyed in on your registration date cause it was at the top of the message. (Just went back and realized it was posted on 8-8-01)

So I'm thinking about using the 6 inch tubes because I'm looking for more of a low-light effect..Pretty sure I can find these at Pep-Boys - any recommendations on brands?

BTW - your gauges look killer..

I'm a blue fanatic and light fanatic too. When I did my interior lights (I will explain) my friend said I was pimping it out too much and it would look like a ricer. What I did is get replacment blue bulbs for the door lights (#194). That wasn't blue enough for me so I went to Wal-mart and bought a blue plastic, I then layed my lens on it and cut out the shape of the lens and stuck the two together with double isded tape. I have to say it looks good. As for the dome light I couldn't find a blue bulb and the lens would not fit back on with the plastic stuff on it so it is back to stock. I plan to add a neon light like you are planning too as well.

well i got mine at autozone and they had blue ones there also! They aint as much of a draw on power as u think! Infact autozone had the neon tubes that blinked with music if your really into it!! hehe If u want it hooked up like mine (on when u turn the headlight on) let me know i can show ya the perfect place to do it!:-) My next step and if i can find it is get a set of pedals that have some red in it so they glow with the neons! I f u do end up going to autozone let me knwo if there carying the APC line of auto add ons cause my autozone has it now and they offer soem kewl azz stuff!:-)

I have a blue domelight bulb. i got it at pepboys. 2 of them were 3 bucks. i think im going to take it wout because it looks funny with the door lights white. unless i can get those in blue too. but i think it looks kinda stupid. i mean its cool but i dont want too look like a ricer. i also put purple neon under my dash. it looks cool but i dont like the purple. the reason i did it was because my friend had some from his old sub box that he didnt want so he gave it too me. im thinkin about doing it all in red. it would look cool but im not shure if im going to do it it would cost alot

I stopped by Autozone last night and they had some really tiny (4") pencil thin (literally) neon bulbs - this weekend I'm going to (for about the 4th stragiht time) take my door panels off, this time though, I'm headed towards the lights rather than the speakers.

I'll be drilling through the white plastic reflector (laterally) and inserting the neon into the hole to be held in with a dab of silicone adhesive. Then I'm going to wire a microswitch through the door, through the flexi-conduit into the cab, down underneath the dash to a small panel (where I hide the rest of my on-off buttons) to flip from the white interior lights to the blue).

Simple and I can revert back to normal without undoing everything. I'm contemplating doing the same thing with the dome light..I got the blue "colored" light from Autozone last night just to satisfy my curiousity and it's cool but where the light element hits the bulb glass it shines bright white...I'm looking for a definite blue with no white left.

If you're interested, I'll be taking pictures of my "modification" this weekend...I'll see if I can whip up a simple webpage to post them to so you can see..

Ive got the blue light bug too. I got a 12" neon blue light at pepboys. I then used some 3M tape and put it at the top of the rear glass. There is a spot about an inch wide where it fit perfectly. I then ran the wire under the headliner to the dome light and put in a small toggle in the clear part. I wired it so I can switch so it comes on when the doors open, or off completely, or on all the time. I got rid of the dome light but still have the map lights. I wired the on when doors open to the dome light, and the constant on to the map lights. If you pull the light assembly off you will see how its pretty easy to do. It lights up the cab pretty good to. When Im riding with it on and the glowing ford emblems I definitely get some looks. I have really dark tint and you can only really see it from the front. I might try to get some pics if anyone is interested.

Talking

The only problem with the glow in the dark bedliner is that it only last for like a year or less. I here that its easily $1000.00 too. Im crazy about blue lights. First i got the indiglo gauges, going to put some tiny neon tubes in the air vents, have the blue ford lumi logos, have the blue led wheel spinners, have blue indicator lights and have changed the dome lights with the japanese colored glass bulbs....they are hard to find though..but they dont fade because they arent painted glass.

damnnn...sounds nice! thanks for the info about the bedliner i'll have to ask the guy about it! wasnt actually thinking about the whole bedliner coated was actually thinking about a huge ford logo sprayed on from of bed! with the red neon under bed rails it would look sweet! if anything unique! hey heres a idea for u also! I bought from autozone a red neon rope! yes it like a rope that lights up neon! i Put it just under the headliner near the back window! It really isint very bright but u can definately see it! Hey where did u get and "wheele spinners" ? how much? And do u think the blue light up ford symbol would look cheasy on my red truck? It would be on a set of trenz grills!
