polished billet grille to black?
polished billet grille to black?
I've got a polished carriage works billet grille that I'd like to paint black, but I'm concerned that it won't hold up well. Any recommendations on how to get the paint to adhere well as well as a brand of paint to use? Thanks!
Hey Slick,
There is paint adhesion promoter you can use to help adhere to non-primered or smooth surfaces, its almost like a clear primer. You'll wet sand and spray the adhesion promoter on. Let it dry a little and then spray on the paint thinly. In 2 or 3 passes, you will have a nice even coat.
I've done this to cars previously with chrome and metal and it works very well. It hold up to years of use. I know it work as I hate chrome and used it all the time for my old vehicles. This goes for chrome grilles without any chipping or peeling. Dupli-Color makes a great adhesion promoter.
