customizing lund headlight covers

Brilliance struck me on the way to work! I purchased some lund eclipse headlight covers (smoke) from quadratec (one of the excellent sponsors of this site, or at least they had a banner on this site...) and had a great idea. All my lights up front have the grill-type PIAA cover (like the light on the left here):

and I thought hmm... I wonder if I could find some grill-type headlight covers or modify these lunds with the use of a sharp knife and or dremel tool or rotozip or something, so that it would have the same grilled appearance. What do you think?

Mattbert,

I did somthing like that on my truck one time. The best way is to start with the clear lens, tape in off with the design you want and paint it on the inside of the lens. Just make sure the area where your going to paint is very clean. I just sprayed the paint diretly on the inside of the lens - it worked great - and it dosn't matter if the paint runs because it is on the inside of the lens.
