Removing window (rain) vents

I searched in here and was suprised no thread...Anyway Im trying to take the plastic window vents off of my truck that the previous owner put on. I got them off but now I have some of the foam 3-M tape left behind on the paint. I googled around and everyone said to use Goo Gone but this isn't working. Tomorroo I plan on breaking out the hair dryer and use my fingers or a plastic puddy knife I have...Unless yall have any better suggestions.....Dont want to ruin my paint job....

Not sure if this will help, but try Griots.com. They sell a can of adhesive remover. I think other places have it cheaper, maybe Amazon. I've also heard that AutoZone and WalMart has it.

I had the same problem. I carefully scraped it off with a razor blade after no adhesive remover worked. It took forever, but it eventually came off

Hospital staff use an adhesive remover called Solvoplast.........worth a try. Cleans adhesive tape residue off like nothing. Warning, it stinks. Alternate, some fingernail polish remover.

Did this exact thing last summer. Used fishing wire and a knife very carefully to get the visor off and then used goo gone to get the rest. PITA to do, that's for sure, was barely coming off for the most part, some times not at all. You just have to keep working at it. I only had to take one off thankfully but even that took me a couple hours of constant rubbing. You just have to carefully work at it, it will come.

I did mine this past summer. Used a heat gun, an adhesive remover made by 3M, and a plastic putty knife to scrape off the foam adhesive. I was left with an outline or surface residue of the adhesive that i couldnt scrape. Meguires Cleaner Wax, microfiber cloth, and some rubbing, and it looks perfect.

If all else fails, use a little gasoline on a rag. Follow-up with a little car wax.

Heat is your friend. Use a Hair Dryer or Heat Gun and carefully heat it up then carefully get under it with a plastic razor blade
