No problem guys, thanks for the complements. Like most of you I've learned more than I could ever imagine on this site. I'm more than happy to pay back some knowledge. I have a lot of pieces I would like to do, the window frame being one of them. Unfortunatly the rear window has to be removed to do it. If I ever find someone that wants to trade me their solid rear window for my slider then I would probably consider doing it when I'm changing them out. The other thing that I want to do really bad is the mirror housing. I think it's Frank&Beans that had his painted and it looks amazing. I'm just kind of worried because the portion that I would paint is sandwhiched inbetween two pieces that were painted at the factory. Maybe one day I'll get to it, I just need to get up the courage.

bummer

Man, that sucks that the rear window has to come out to remove the trim.HMMMMMM,might have to get a bodyshop to do this one.Or I could mask everything off and try it that way( I doubt it though, overspray scares me).At any rate, keep up the good work.

I've been looking at my window frame lately too,I love the foggy gray at the top I've tried everything, and nothing seems to bring it back to life. I'm still trying to decide between black and body color,though,,,,,98

The choice is obvious for me

98 Screamer, I have a black truck so mine will be black. I was thinking of ordering one and painting up, then having the body shop putting it on (if this part is not too expensive). Have to wait and see what the finances say I can do..........

Yeah,I have the choice of having a back window that looks HUGE(black),,,,And a black seam where the body and frame come together. My tinted back window already looks black,so I guess black it is,,,,98

98SCREAMER you said you had to leave the handle on the tail gate. Is that because they sprayed your liner on over the bolts in the bed ? If so i would be pissed because they pretty much ruined your bed. When i got mine sprayed in a guy came in talking about how his friend got the bolts sprayed over in her bed and she had to get a new bed .
Anyways I was just curious

I got the paint at a local auto parts store. I have even seen it as some Walmart's and other mega stores. Just call around and see if any one carries it in your area. I think the brand I used is called Auto Kote. I can check if that isn't right. I'm planning on painting some other things, would you guys like me to put together some more how to's if I do?

Yep,they sprayed everything. The tailgate coating is so thick you can't see the seam,or the bolts. I don't think it is ruined, though? When I do my handle relocation,I'll have to cut the panel out. Grinding all that junk off the tailgate isn't my idea of fun,but if it has to be done,I'm up for it Wonder if I could go back and get them to fix it,the dealer had it done as part of the price of the truck?,,,,98

Yea the bed may not be ruined but it adds alot of extra work for you to do if you ever do anything diffrent to your bed. I would try and see if the dealer would fix it. The sad thing is it doen't take but 5 mins extra to take the bolts out and do a good job the first time...
Diffrent subject

Do you have the black door handels also ? I was thinking maybee instead of just painting the tailgate handel doing the door handels too. Just and idea. Im not that good at that kind of stuff thats why i leave it to the capable people to do and figure out.
btw. The tailgate handel looks awsome.

My truck has painted door handles

You could paint yours, and the steps would be exactly the same. If it was me doing it though, I would probably just order the factory painted ones from Ford Part's Online. Door handles get used quite a bit more, and the increased wear and tear on them could lead to marred paint. If you're going to paint the tailgate then go ahead and pull hte handles out (which is a job in itself) and paint them all at the same time. Then if you mess up, buy the handles pre-painted.
