hood scoop question

i've never had a functional hood scoop. I've read many warnings about how making your hood scoop functional can cause severe engine damage from water, etc. ok, but if so, how did all the muscle cars get away with these? what am i missing?

my dad has a mini cooper S, its supercharged and has the innercooler on top where fresh air can come in thru the scoop and over the innercooler. for intakes usually the filter is in a box and not directly under the drip line where water could get on the filter and in your airbox have hoses comeing out for water to go out of.

Muscle cars don't have all the electronics. They don't have COP's and PCM's that are scared of water intrusion.

that's a wicked hood! i haven't seen it before. very refined looking-as if the truck came with it. that's the way all add-ons should look imo.
