Removing Chrome
Removing Chrome
This question has probably been asked too many times to count but I could not find anything on removing chrome or how to go about so...
Here is my truck:

I want to change the chrome bumpers, door handle and door handle assembly all to white. I'd also like to change the grille to matte black. I love the look of the FX2/FX4 versions and that's why I want to do these changes. Problem was, was that I got an amazing deal on this XLT and they did not have any FX2s or FX4s, if you were wondering why I did not just get one of those.
With all of this said I guess I am asking you guys what you think I should do or how I should go about getting this done. I live in San Diego and posted an ad on craigslist about possibly trading someone but like I thought no luck so far.

i painted my chrome bumper on my last white truck. i just sanded it down real good, sprayed with primer, sprayed with white ptm and sprayed some clearcoat on and it looked perfect, no paint chips or anything. it even held up to a pressure washer
The door handle lever should just be a chrome cover. Mine has the stock chrome levers and they are covers held on by double sided tape, so you can pull those off easily. Then you can take them to a body shop and have them smoothed and ptmed. For the bumpers, you can try to find a fx4 or fx2 bumper in the junkyard or fine someone who wants to trade. Or you can paint it yourself, like 97isnotold did, or have it professionaly ptmed.
