I'll have my new ones on hopefully this weekend. They are the best DIY I have seen to date in terms of gloss. Trust me, you CAN do it, but I'm gonna warn you, it's so much work. Between working well over full time and now school, I've been doing them on the side for a month in stages. The results are far worth it. I have to compound them and polish them out. All done my hand and just spray paint. When we say it's all in the prep, it really is. Two years ago I rushed them and they looked ok, but not that great. I bought a set of 06 take offs off ebay for 60 bucks (power like my stock ones) and took the entire cap off and masked off and used a filler primer. Then you sand the living crap out of them. Wash them, and go at it again. You need to get them very smooth. That's the key. Rhonda, if you take your time, you can do the whole mirror, but if you mess up the sanding and have bumps, it's gonna look like ***. That's why I wouldn't do the entire mirror and also, it looks cheap imo as well unless the whole truck has the plastics painted.

Truckguy.... I plan on ptm my door handlesand adding a front windshield wiper cowl also ptm. I'm going to powdercoat my nerf bars inn black gloss, so the only chrome will be on my wheels, headlights and grille. We'll see how it turns out.

In that case, I think it can be ulled off, but I'd let a body shop do it if you go that route. Also, the automotive grade paint and clear would stand up better in most cases I would think. If a piece chips, that's gonna look awful
