Depending on who's doing your paint... wrapping them might be a little cheaper and less permanent. Cody is right... matte black would look pretty cool on your truck. Wrapping in a flat finish can be tricky, so don't let a hack do it. Go to someone good. Let me know where you are located and I might be able to recommend someone.

We could do it for you, but we're located in Houston.

Thats pretty cool!! I'm located in Utah... how does the wrap hold up? As far as chipping and stuff like that...

It holds up as well as paint would. I mean, if you run into a shopping cart (which I have done) it's likely going to chip your paint/chrome or tear your vinyl. Other than physical damage, it holds up great as long as it's installed correctly by an experienced installer. Life expectancy on 3M wrap vinyl with clear overlaminate is 3 to 5 years. We just pulled off my original wrap. It was about 3 years old and still looked like it did on day 1. What was even better... the paint underneath didn't age a day because it never saw the sun for 3 years.

I'll check my sign forums buddies to see if there's anyone in Utah. What part?

did u leave them on the truck when u painted them or take them off? I am wanting to do this as well. Also did u sand and primer first or just spray the flat black?

No I just left them on the truck and taped everything off really well... I didn't take pictures but a lot of people have done it this way. And I just sprayed them flat black... I don't think it will be an issue and if it is, I will just paint them again!

Personally I would not paint the bumper white, either leave it as it is or pait it flat black but I guess u are going to do the rear as well.

When I had my hood painted black I had the shop do the emblems as well. Three years later I'm starting to get some minor flaking on the edges. My preference would have been powdercoating, but I figured getting them off wouldn't have been worth the effort. Am I wrong?
