How do you remove the plastic bed rail caps?

I have a 2010 Ford F-150 SuperCrew with the standard 5.5' bed. I have purchased Putco chrome bed rails. I was told that to install them, you have to remove the plastic bed rail caps, but I don't know how to remove them without breaking the tabs holding them on. Please advise. Thanks.

It takes patience first of all....

Remove the tail lights, and get a pair of smaller channel lock type pliers and needle nose. Squeeze the tabs from the underside starting inside the tail light hole, and use a lond flat blade screwdriver to get up underneath them and gently pry. After I get one tab removed, I slide a roll of 3/4 masking tape along underneath to keep a little pressure on the next one, and keep the moulding from snapping itself back in place. Be very careful in how you pry it, the wrong pressure will dent the bed side.
