I have a stubby carbon fibre antenna that I bought off ebay. I don't listen to the radio in my truck ever so I have no idea as to its performance though but it looks nice.

I got a black powder coated 12" shorty antenna from JC Whitney. Others had the same and complained about radio reception but mine works fine and looks good.

I got a powdercoated black one a while ago. Can't remember what the size was, don't think it's 12 though... No real change in reception with this one, but I can't really hear the radio over my dual stingers anyways
Here's an old picture:

I plucked the **** top off my factory antenna using a pair of standard wire strippers. (Use a slightly larger than the antenna rod size, tape the ball to it, and smack the strippers with a hammer. Pops right off).

I then ran a 7 ft level across my roof to the antenna, and cut it off the same height as the truck roof. Beveled the "new end" of the antenna on a bench grinder, and put the **** back on by holding it in place, and tapping it **** down on the concrete.

Now not only is it shorter than it was, but it acts as an awesome parking garage indicator too. Reception didn't change noticeably.
