Headlights > Smoke or Tint

Hello guys,
My plan is to purchase a pair of nice chrome projector headlights for my FX2 2008 and then have a smoke film on the clear-glass. My questions:

If I open the headlight and remove the clear-glass, is there a way for me to put a smoke effect in the inside of the headlight-glass?

On the other hand, A Film is applied on the outside right? so, can i bring the film all around the corner? or is this more a flat film up to the edge of the flat area?

Any other ideas how i can get a smoke effect on headlights?
thx

I've used lamin-x film on some headlights before. It's a pliable film that you can heat with a hair dryer on the compound curves.
It gets applied to the outside only. But you want it on the outside since it acts as a shield against sand/salt blasting.

I forgot to add, you can do the niteshades thing yourself too but its hard to get it to look perfect and glossy on clear lenses as opposed to tailights.
So you could also take them to a body shop and have them spray them with a tinted clear. Ask around a few places, most have done this.

As well as possibly illegal. Check your state and local laws.
