removing chrome pillar posts and tailgate strips need some advice

does anyone have any sound advice as to how i can remove the chrome pillar posts and tailgate strips i put on about 4 months ago.

i have heard using a heat gun will work but they told me i need to be careful b/c the paint might peel ... any thoughts on this???

has anyone had a similar situation ??

Heat gun to warm up the adhesive, then peel them off. Use something like Goo-Gone to remove the adhesive. Test a small spot first with the Goo-Gone to make sure its safe on your paint. The apply some wax after because the surface is gonna be stripped. I cant stand those faux chrome adhesive add ons, so Pepboysish.

when i bought my truck it had the chrome stick on stuff all along the bottom but whoever done it knew what they were doing because it looks good and ties in with the chrome bumpers. would i rather not have it? yes!! lol its an 04 and whoever had it first probably put in on as soon as they bought the truck so there would be a considerable difference in the paints. one of these days when it needs repainted i'll have it all stripped off and have the bumpers painted to match. but i used go gone when i de-badged my gf's g6 and it took it off pretty easy. but like scott said, wax it once your done.
