New Truck

Just bought my 2010 F150 XLT Supercrew 2WD and I have been creating a list of things that I would like to do since I started looking 6-7 months ago.

The main thing I want to do is put new level it off, put new tires/wheels on it, and black it out.

This is mine here:

I don't want to sound like I'm completely copying other people's truck, although I am, but I have always loved the look of Blackout's:

and whoever owned this(recently reformatted so I don't have the bookmark anymore):

I'm pretty new to all of the tire/wheel sizes and what fits what but what I would like to do is order my tires and wheels separate and just use my stock 18'' until I have the money to buy new rims. I like the price and look of the Terra Grapplers and from what I have read they seem to be great tires if you cannot afford BFG ATs. So when it comes down to it I'm all ears for what you guys have to say.

I know I must get at least a leveling kit to fit these tires and I'd prefer to stay as low as possible while keeping it very clean looking, just like the ones above.

Next is the grille. I like the chrome grille setup I have right now but I absolutely love the grills above(prefer the 6 over the 3) and was wondering if there was anyway I could change mine from chrome into black or should/would it be best to just buy a black one and sell mine?

Thanks in advance for all of the comments

Just out of curiosity, when you say you want to stay as low as possible, do you mean you do want to lift the front to level so you can fit a bit bigger tire, but don't actually want to lift the whole truck? Or would you rather drop the back to level it and go for more of the street look? I know you mentioned the terra grapplers, so I'm assuming you'd like a bit of an off-road look. Terra's are great tires in my opinion. Had them for 56,000 miles and finally replaced them with the Trail Grapplers.

As for the chrome to black grill, are you planning to black or PTM your bumpers too or are you keeping that chrome? There are ways to go from chrome to colors or black. I've never done it, but there are a bunch of members who have documented how they prepped their chrome and converted to a color or black. I'd search on that.

AS 1.5" Level
18's or 20's w/ 33" tires and you'll be set

Sorry for not clarifying better I had a feeling that would be kind of confusing.

I do not want a street look at all and want more of an off-road look like you guessed. What I meant by as low as possible is that I want to level/lift my truck to a point where I have no worries with rubbing and anything else that can happen due to bigger tires on stock suspension. It seems like the AS 1.5 level like josh said will do but I didn't know what actually levels the truck with the back(I had always thought it was 1.5 but was never 100% sure).

Glad to hear about the Terra Grapplers lasting 56,000 because I was trying to find some information on how long they last. I only drive about 10-12k a year so that will be perfect.

So 1.5 will level the front with the back and 33'' tires won't have any clearance problems with that? If so that's the information I've been looking for.

Also, if I was to get 33'' tires and keep the stock 18'' rims it will fit and won't rub? I think I'll end up getting XD Monsters but I want to make sure the tires I get will work fine with both set of rims.

Ya I know haha. Just taking it part by part and I'll eventually be at the point I want to be.

Does anyone have suggestions on where to get the cheapest parts? I haven't been able to find a website that has the black version of my grille.

As for the tires it seems like Discount Tire is the best place to go seeing as there's about 400 in San Diego county and for wheels(most likely XD Monsters) I still don't know where the cheapest place is.

Lastly, I think the best place to get a leveling kit is off of eBay but if anyone else have a better place to get it from that would be great.

I'll trade grilles with you, that would be a start. Once I get enough nerve I'm going to use dupliolors shadow kit (black chrome) on my step bars and a xlt center grille.

Are you going to keep your chrome grille or try to sell it? If you're going to keep it, why not try to make it black yourself? As for parts, does Tasca have parts for 2011 yet? They do for 2010. Not sure if the parts have changed at all.

You can stay right there at Discount Tire for both. They can get XD wheels too, just will require them ordering them most likely. Just make sure you do your research and you can usually negotiate with them. Rimzoneonline.com usually has great prices on tire and wheel packages. They sell XD.

Sweet... this is what I needed to hear.

I didn't know for sure if there was a way to turn a chrome grille into a black one(I love the black version of mine) but where do I start? I am a complete rookie when it comes to this type of stuff.

And I'll definitely figure out who has the best prices at the time I buy my tires. If I can bring them down to at the very least price match Rimzoneonline then that would help a bunch.

Thanks

I'm not ready to upgrade or trade anything right now because I still want to do my research and stuff before I make any decisions. I'll definitely hit you up when I'm ready and decide to just go with a black one instead of trying to change mine to black.

Truck looks awesome!
Thanks

it seems that 09+ 2wd will level out perfectly with a AS 1.5" kit

you can easily fit 33" tires with this setup

stock wheels will be fine if you get 285 width or less

Not wishing to upset anyone but why do so many want to black out there trucks? One of the reasons I add things to mine is to make it different, so with the proliferation of blacked out trucks surely people run the risk of making many of them look pretty similar. Just a thought.

Thanks for the information, what I needed to know for sure what I can get. I'll probably end up waiting until this next Christmas season(Christmas light hanging brings in the big bucks) to get new tires/wheels but now I know what will work.

I want to black mine out because of the fact that I love the way it looks. When it comes down to it I really don't have a problem with having the same looking truck as others because I just care about how mine looks in this end. No worries about upsetting me, it's just a question in the end anyways isn't it?

Right now I'm still researching and looking into blacking out my own stuff. I want to also be 100% sure I want to change everything that I've thought about(grille, door handles, Ford symbols/XLT markings)before I actually do it.

One thing I also wanted to ask is if anyone can point me in the direction of how-to blackout stuff that would be great... looking now but I may not be able to catch everything.
