I could see someone getting pulled over for off colors. It is most likely illegal in every state. It would look pretty cool though, it would come down to if you want to risk it or give someone a reason to pull you over. If it was a show truck, I would do it, but for a normal driver, I myself wouldn't risk it.

What specifically are you talking about? Just a bulb swap? You will need the EP-27 flasher to correct the hyperflashing when using the turn signals.

Anyone tried one of the off colors for this? I have a green '98 and was wondering if the green LEDs would look decent.
The colored leds aren't as bright as the white ones. Like Rednoved said, I would not use them.

Do you have a link to the LED strip?

Bulb swaps are plug and play. You would just need a new electronic flasher to fix the fast flashing. I didn't know at first if maybe you were talking of using a red led strip or something and tie it into your brake lighting or just a bulb swap.

All of the lights should be plug and play except for the ones that flash. Steady lights are good to go.

Jon

would green bulbs cause legal issues?

I know some colors of bulbs will get you pulled over by the cops. not sure if the plate lights will get you or not tho.

I was wondering this myself, I run blue headlights and EVERYONE up here runs HIDs, but I'm not sure how that would work with off-colored lights. Plates shouldn't be that big a deal? For $10 I'm almost willing to try it.

Why not go for it? If you don't give cops a reason to pull you over, they won't get you for just those bulbs. I wouldn't do it on my truck because I have tinted tails and retrofit headlights so if I were pulled over for say speeding, I'd have a list of stuff they could get me for, you know.

might as well try it.. worst that will happen is that you will get a ticket

I also think it depends on the cop.

I have 3 cops and a fbi agent that lives on my street they all have told me that they dont really care about stupid stuff like headlights, and loud exhausts, they are there to catch the actual bad guys.

they also let me get away with ken blocking the duramax around on the snow covered roads
