Install of Stone/Mud Guards

Picked up Ford part number 4L3Z 16A550 CAA - molded stone guards and need some help with install - I am clueless.

Truck is a 2010 Screw.

The truck does not have molded fenders, but it does have a plastic piece that uses the same holes on the fender wells that the mud guards will use. They are black and run along the bottom portion of the rocker panels.

I assume I need to remove these before I put on the stone guards?

They are installed with a bolt and a plastic screw type thing with ridges on it. It looks like it just pushes through the hole, but they are damn hard to pull back through due to the splines on the shaft. Any pointers for getting these things out?

I think I'm good with the install, the directions in the package are good, It's just getting these other things off. If I don't take them off, the guards don't fit flush on the truck.

Thanks.

step 1: pull hard

they're meant to resist comming out. you can use them again though as long as you dont break them. i use a flat head and needle nose pliers. if some break you should still be good. i took mine out and reinstalled them a bunch of times when i was doing my headers. mine are missing a few because i broke them. too much M.A.N. i suppose

Do not remove the rock guards. They are meant to be used with the factor mud guards.

If you really want them off, remove the screws, the pop tabs, and reach inside the wheel well with some pliers and squeeze the tabs together. These can be removed without "pulling harder".
