New to Trucks...Lift or Not?
I have an 06' F150 SuperCrew Fx4. It currently has 20 inch stock wheels and 32 inch tires. It has a leveling kit. I like the look of a lift, but I don't know what would look good? Is 6 inches the norm or too much? I also have family getting in and out of the truck daily. Would they hate climbing up?
If you have young ones and your truck is your main family car, I wouldn't lift it. This coming from someone who has a 6" lift on his truck, too. Just my $0.02.

Do you know how tall of a leveling kit it has? 1, 2, 2.5 or 3 inch...
What do you plan to use the truck for?
Towing, daily driver, off or on road?
As far as your fam hating to climb in and jump out...
Your kids may like it... Your wife maybe not so much...
I have a 2.5 inch level in the front with a 3 inch block in the rear.
On 325/60/20's on factory wheels...
My GF not thrilled when she gets in or out of the truck...
Even less thrilled since I removed the running boards.
She's like 5'2" but she manages...
I use my truck as a daily driver and for work...
I also tow a boat and a dump trailer which some of the time carries a Kabota tractor...
The way it's set up right now I have no issues doing any of this!!
In the future I plan to add a 4 inch Rancho lift which will allow me to keep the factory 20's which IMO are a real good looking wheel.
Would also still keep my truck usable for what I do with it...
But I do toss around the idea of going with 6 - 8 inches of lift and running 37 inch tall tires... But then I would lose some of the trucks functionality...
Also would have to heave my supplies and tools up that much higher into the bed...
Hope this helps... For me it really depends on what you want to do with the truck... And your family ask their opnions... It doesn't mean you have to listen...

BTW... Welcome to the fourms... Word of advice hide your wallet from your self... This place and the ideas here will go right for it...

Mr. Extreme
It is a 2 inch leveling kit. I tow a pop-up trailer in the summer. I use it mostly for camping and errands around town. I take my kids to school in it usually. We have a Tahoe as the family car but tend to go around in the truck more just cuz its fun. I have running boards. I want it to have a big look but still be able to throw stuff in the back without having to climb in to get it out. My boys are stoked to get a lift.
If I add the 4 inch lift like you say...Will it still look lifted? Will I keep the functionality. How much does that cost vs. a 6 inch?

Go 6 inches...just get some good running boards or nerf bars. You'll love the difference, the wife may not though.

what tire are you gonna go with?
A 6" lift compared to a 4" would be maybe $200 more, well worth it in my opinion.
These trucks must handle way better when lifted that much compaired to the 79 F150 I almost bought 10 years ago on 38's
That thing was all over the place at highway speeds but for crusing was awesome...
One of the other things I like about the Rancho kit it's a sturt and sprint not a massive spacer like the stage one pro comp lifts...
6 inchs with a coil over that gets my attention! But addes $ too...
What size gears are you going to be running when you go 41's?

I'd say lift it 4". Because then if you still want to go higher there is plenty of options that would easily get you to 6" of lift and it sounds like you wouldn't want to be going any higher than 6" anyways.
Look up Stovetops truck in the gallery...
He started with a 4 inch Rancho and is now up at 6 or a little more. Still with the lift he started with.
Alos check out VTHokies truck...
4 inch Rancho on factory 20's...
These two trucks are the ones that got me leaning towards Rancho.

Its easy, look at pics of the guys with the 4in kits compared to the guys with 6in's. Then u decide what you like better. I think the biggest difference between the two is how tall of a tire you can run without trimming.
