anyone good with emergency lights?
anyone good with emergency lights?
i got these emergency lights today. there off my buddys chevy. the previous owner muffed up the wires and my bud had to cut most of them.
there made up of 4 lights and 2 boxes. each box runs 2 lights. the box has the plugs for the lights on one side, and 3 wires on the other. the 3 wires are red, black, and light blue. i know the red and black are power/ground, but what could the light blue be? ill grab pics in a few.

Possibly for an additional light, If this is a lightbar, On many emergency vechicles, I know that ours, all of CFD's have an opticom, This is the little flashing light that will change the traffic lights from red to green for emergency apparatus. Just my thoughts as to what It could be, I work tommorow so I'll ask the guys if they have any input.
typeR?!?! i can tell you that this stuff is most likely junk. something you can get in autozone. just some sort of flashing led if that is all this stuff is. good luck figuring them out. real emergency lights are made by whelen, code3, federal signal and a couple others. being in a wrecker business caring for up to 13 trucks with various flasher and light assemblies i can probably say without a doubt go buy yourself something real. btw what you need this stuff for??
Sometimes the additional wires are for syncing multiple lights together and other times they can be used to change the light patterns.
I agree, I would not install those and people actually noticing them while running an emergency response.
Drop some coin and get a good set of warning lights. www.sirennet.com is a great source as they carry good products from many companies.
Also (this is my two cents), I would not install them until you're a full time member. I have seen too many times of how some people have misused them. Not saying that you will, but not having any takes all the question away from the department that you might. Recently there a hopeful member of a local FD wanting to join, installed a LED dash light (again, they were not on the department yet), and misused it. It's not good PR for the department and also just makes you look really bad.

volunteers. theres no restrictions on lights. theres some that only have the single roof strobe, and some that have the hideaways, grille lights, window lights, and a cherry.
its better to have lights here. even though its a small town, we often go to the 3 surrounding towns. traffic is a major issue with the volunteers. cars only move out of the way for the trucks, never for the cars. its terrible. all the city people up here....
I install emergency lighting for a living right now and I happen to be from jersey. I'd be willing to walk you through whatever you need or if you're interested even sell you some of the lights I planned on putting on my truck but decided against it cause I'll be out for surgery soon and wont be able to respond so I'll get new lights when the time comes. Actually I even have a siren for sale too lol. But if you want help just send me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can
