Recon 3rd Brake Lights

When I bought my truck back in 2008, there was already a Recon 3rd brake light on it, except it wasn't smoked. The old 3rd BL looks awful, the silver paint on the inside has faded away completely revealing the pale yellow plastic underneath, and little rust colored spots had been forming. So yesterday I order a brand new Recon that is smoked, looks great. I pull off my old 3rd brake light and compare them together. To my horror, they're the exact same minus the smoked finish!

Has anyone bought the smoked 3rd brake light and not had any problems like fading or rust colored spots forming?

Here's a picture of the old light with a lot of Niteshade coats to try and hide the ugliness.

New one on the cab with **** camera

I've had 1 of those for almost 2 years now with no problems. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Mine was $45 so I'm not sweatin' it.

Well it rained last night and I've already got some condensation on the inside. I'm guessing it's because my screws never had O-rings on them. I wrapped them with a **** load of teflon tape, hopefully that stops the problem once and for all.
