Harley davidson chrome lettering on bed of 07 f150

Happy friday guys. Has anyone attempted to remove the chrome lettering on the bed of your 07 harley. I've always wanted one of these trucks, now i have one but want that lettering off. It's an 07, so would i expect a different color paint from the sun, underneath the letter if i remove them, i've heard it's just double sided tape, but will it come off with a good buff. If anyone has tried this or heard of anyone trying it please help. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you'd just follow the same method used to remove badges. Lots of threads on the subject. As for the paint, I'm sure a good detailing will freshen up the clear to match.

Thank you sir. From past experience, will it need to be repainted?

It depends how weathered the paint is. My dad had an 2004 SUV that the model badges recently came unglued and there was nothing we could do to hide the imprint of the lettering that hadn't faded versus the rest of the faded paint, and his SUV was black.

If you really want to do it, just take one letter off and have a look at the paint underneath. I'd bet it would still look ok, but it there is a slight difference it will probably show up as a slightly darker black word Harley-Davidson in the paint. Which actually sounds pretty cool now that I think about it. Like a reverse ghosted-logo.
