Im not sure if Im the only one who dislikes the 99-03 steering wheels. The vinyl wrap gets very uncomfortable and theres really no grip on it. I would love to change it the Lightning steering wheel.

Would it be a direct fit, or would the steering column have to be changed among other things? I can get my hands on one, but not really into having to change a grip of things. Thanks fellas for any answers.

 

Should be a simple swap, you'll just have to re-use your airbag and cruise buttons. I swapped the wheel in my Cobra to an FR500 wheel and it took maybe an hour. Just be sure you disconnect the battery to prevent the airbag from discharging and rent a steering wheel puller.

 

Someone did this recently, I think the thread is in the 97-03 section. Anyway, I believe they had to swap clock springs and some other stuff as well.
