Raptor HID kit vs. DDM Tuning Slim Kit
Raptor HID kit vs. DDM Tuning Slim Kit
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these two besides the price difference?
Just noticed that these are wayyyyy cheap right now and think I might get a set.

I was wondering the same thing. I got the Raptor kit Hi/lo 55w and it came with all the relays ect. NO cutting of factory wiring. I would HIGHLY recommend the kit. Unless you have ZERO room under your hood, you'll be perfectly fine with the raptors. -Brent
Apexcone Raptor V2 vs. DDM Tuning slim ballasts
Both kits come with a lifetime warranty, and have 35W or 55W option.
The Raptor V2 kit is a analog kit, hence the bigger ballasts. Since it is analog, you might notice a small amount of static while listen to the radio. It's not audible, until you pull into a closed structure, like a parking garage, etc.
The DDM Tuning slim ballasts kit are fully digital, allowing for the small ballast size. Digital kits do not cause the subtle static like analog kits do. These kits are actually rated at 50W, but provide more than enough output.
In all reality, 55W are only worth the extra $$ if you have a projector lens housing. For most of us F-150 guys, 55W does nothing more than increase glare in a reflective type housing. 35W kits are purely sufficient for our truck.

Yes, only with FM/AM reception
Its also far more dangerous than the silverstars, illegal, and not proper for our trucks. Glare sucks, but I guess some people like the ricer glow on their trucks. I did for a while, now I find it silly and thoroughly regret it knowing how many people i possibly upset/blinded.

Are you recommending Silverstar's instead of an HID kit?
Yes, mSaLL150 is definitely recommending Silverstar's over HIDs, and he makes many valid points. They ARE illegal and they ARE dangerous to other drivers. He had a bad experience with his HID's.
That being said, I have HID's.

I completely agree with mSall. They are much different from Silverstar bulbs, both good and bad.
As long as you get a bulb temp that is not higher than 6000K, an take the time to aim your headlights properly to not risk the safety of you and other drivers, no one will bother you.
The main thing that has given HIDs a bad reputation is all the ricers and hoopties right around with 12000K+ lights, aim at the sky, which completely blinds other drivers. I myself have flashed people with my HIDs because their are completely horrible.
I still would recommend them to someone who is looking though.
