Matching the stock rear window tint

I have a 07 FX2 and the rear windows are tinted, id like to tint the 2 front ones but i dont know how dark they are. Was there a stock tint for the fx models or could they choose how dark they wanted the rear windows. If i take it to a tint shop will they be able to match it?

yes a tint shop should know..factory tint is 20%...but it is illegal in most states to have more than 35% on your side windows. So if the area you live in is really strict bout tint laws..you might want to consider 35%.
It really doesn't bother me i have 20% on mine.

I have 35% on mine and it is just a little lighter than the back but not much. Having even the 35% makes a difference in the summer. The only thing I was concerned about was what color tint they used. Most shops have a grey or bronze option.

dont bother with 35%, its not even worth it. 20% is the way to go IMO... that will match ur back windows.

A quick search will yield your answer.

With that said, the rears are 17% from factory. Since your windshield lets in more light than the rear windows, 15% on the front sides will match perfectly. 20% will be close enough, but you'll notice a slight difference in direct sunlight.

yea, any tint will reduce sunlight in your truck and decrease the temp to some extent. I agree with mblouir, the windshield (and the sunroof in mine) are going to be worse than your side and rear windows.

think i went 15%
if i remember right the tint shop said stock is 18% and with the windshield being so big and lets in so much light
that you need to go darker on the front to match the rear factory tint
mine looks like a perfect match

yeah stocks about 15-18 on the back glass. i put 20% on my front two windows and its just a hair lighter. but its still dark to the point that you can stand 10' away from my truck in daylight and you can not see anything inside. it could be empty or full a mexicans and you'd never tell a difference. plenty dark

Mine was 60 for both fronts, 20% I think. Been at least 2 and a half years since I've had it done. One of the best "mods" done, especially in FL I think mine is a dyed tint (I think part of the reason I have a very slight green tinge during certain times of day), hence why it was cheaper, but there's still no signs of fading.
