Hello everyone, I'm a n00b who just picked up a 2000 F150 Supercab (specs in my sig if it matters) to use for occasionally towing my race car and sometimes camping out in the desert. While I'm not using it for these things, it'll be my parents' daily driver (I decided to "give" it to them to replace their aging Crown Vic as long as I can use it when needed).

My mom is about 5'3" and climbing into the truck, even at stock ride height, is a challenge, and I'd like to add side steps of some type to make it easier for her. My only problem with this is that I will probably use the truck to occasionally go out in the desert to camp which will involve some minor off roading (yes, I realize a 2WD is not ideal for this but it'll do), and I'd rather not have big steps hanging down to potentially get caught on something.

So are there any steps out there which can be fairly easily removed? I'd be okay with the idea of REAL nerf bars that bolts to the frame and can protect the underside of the body, but it seems all of the ones on the market are simply steps that bolt to the body and have brackets hanging underneath that can cause problems. Any suggestions? Thanks.

 

Well as far as easily removing them I would say there aren't going to be any good ones for that, as they all will bolt up underneath so that they are strong enough to support the weight. But i would recommend some N-Fab Steps.. I do believe they make them for your model... edit, Yes they do, just looked it up.. But I cant find any pic's for your model, but if you look at my sig or pic's you can see how close they tuck up to the body.

Bad part is those are about $1100-1500.. where as the N-Fabs are like $300-500 depending on paint/stainless
