Dealership Sticker

Any recommendations on removing the dealership label on my tailgate? I think it is a very thin sticker, but is almost like paint when I try to remove it. It cannot be pealed off - I need to somehow scrape it off... What would you suggest?
Thanks,
Steve

It is probably a vinyl decal that the dealer had made up. You can use a heat gun (some people use a hair dryer if they don't have one) and heat up the decal. Then slowly try to peeel each letter (or if it's one peice) and work ir from there.

I would visit a detail shop and have them remove it for $20 and be done with it. Too easy to mess something up!

x2 the headache isn't worth it. $20 and a little time spent reading a magazine in their waiting room is probably well worth it! No risk on your part.

i did mine today with my fingernail, combined with hot blazing sun to soften up the adhesive and goo gone to get rid of the residual adhesive. it worked perfectly. the only thing is that the letters were all separate and thin, not just one big sticker but a bunch of little ones. that made it easier.

Yeah, back when I did mine, I just left my truck out in the sun for a few hours. The letters just peeled right off. I used a rubbing compound to remove all the crap left over.

Removed both of mine, had a big "Built TAYLOR FORD Tough" across my back window...it was huge, took it off the morning after I bought the truck and also removed the sticker on the tailgate. Not very hard to do at all done mine on a warm day, I'm sure a blowdryer would help, can use the edge of a sharp knife or a razor blade to get it started. Take your time and it should come off easily.

Thanks for the replies... I think I'll go the detail shop route. Like I said in my original post, it is more like paint than a sticker. It cannot be peeled at this point - needs to be scraped somehow. I was hoping someone knew of some sort of solvent that would work... Thanks all,
Steve

If it is a sticker, you can easily do it yourself in about 10-15 minutes using the methods mentioned above. I have removed the dealer stickers / emblems off of all of my trucks over the years with just a hair dryer and my finger nails.

If it is paint, you will have to go to a body shop and $20 would be a great price. I suspect they will want to charge you more to remove paint.
