Replacing FX4 Decals for the 2nd time

I replaced my originals a while back with some that were flat black with a dark shadow gray outline. Recently got rear-ended and the body shop had to strip one of them off to do the repairs. Since I've got the chance to replace them I'm switching up the flat black with gloss black and leaving the outline dark shadow gray. As you can see from the first pic the flat black looks silver in most light. I want it a bit darker, which is why I'm going with flat black this time around.

My questions:
1) Should I stick with the 04-08 decals or try out the 09 decals?
2) Should I leave the text under FX4 as "Blackout" or put in something more original like "S.W.A.T. Edition"? (taking suggestions)

I think the 04-08 fx4 looks better than the new fx4. But it is your truck and im sure what ever you go with is goona look sweet.

The font that Ford has used for the '09s was a very poor choice. I would not use it. I really like the decal in the top picture. I would replace it with the same one you had on your truck...

i think i'd leave the wording as it came from the factory. i think it's cheesy when people have "editions". just go gloss black and call it a day.

Well, here I am to mess you up then. I'm voting for the 09 decals. With the way your truck is modded, if you used the 09 decals and maybe even later put on 09 emblems, it would be near impossible for anyone other than the people on this forum to tell your truck isn't an 09!

I would leave it with the 04-08 type of decal. The 09's look cheesy.

Whatever you do, do not go with a "SWAT" edition or something like that. Blackout is cool, but making up editions is pretty lame. Kinda like putting 250 badges on a 150.

On that note, keep them the way they are.

Sweet, I appreciate everyone's input. Looks like the majority is leaning the way I am. Patriot Decals is down until Aug 17 or so, but when I re-order it looks like I'll stick with the decals the way they are (with gloss black, though).

Thanks all!

I agree with this. I think I will be doing this possibly. The only thing keeping me from doing it is that I already did the flat black and dsg emblems all the way around on my blackout.

That's a great idea but my inlays are all DSG and I want the decals to match them.

I agree with the "whatever special edition" being cheesy I have seen dealers do that and its lame 99.9% of the time. If you are SWAT and can come up with something along those lines thats cool do it, If you are not SWAT than that would just make you a poser......nobody likes a poser. Anyway your truck looks really good.

Why not just go with a dark shadow grey outline and leave the gloss black to the color of your truck? It'll give it a 3D look as well. That's what I have on my truck. Sucks clean wax out of the creases, but it looks cool.
