Mirrors Question

Hello All, I walk out from the store to find that someone hit my mirror and the lense was laying on the ground. I want to replace the standard power mirror with the power mirror with heat and blinkers. Do I need to do anything special to use these features?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I just did this to my '05. I bought 2009 mirrors with all the bells and whistles off ebay and have the signal working but no heat yet. It takes some experimenting on your part and a lot of searching these forums, but, it can be done. My truck is an XLT and the wiring is there for the signal and heat, the lower trim levels, I don't know if they are there. All I had to do was move a ground pin and, voila, it worked! Good luck.

Its luck of the draw on your truck, no one can tell you if the wiring is there for sure or not because these trucks are wired so differently.
For example my 06 was Power only when i bought it. I swapped mirrors, and found out i was prewired for turn signals But NOT HEAT.
Some have checked and werent prewired for anything except power, and others yet have found out to be wired for just about every option except power fold.

You may be prewired for what you want, your best bet is to check your existing mirror plug and see what you are wired for. Wiring for turns isnt very hard but somewhat extensive since you have to tap a turn signal wire and run it to the door, thru perhaps the dreaded molex, then up to the mirror plug.
The heat may be more extensive, (as well as expensive) as you have to tap a wire at the rear of the HVAC control panel, and it may require a different HVAC control panel because i want to say it has to have the rear window defrost button on it. Im not 100% on that one though i am pretty sure.
