adding electric slider
adding electric slider
anybody know what it would cost to pull out a regular sliding rear window and replace it with an electric. I assume that install of the actual window would be fairly straightforward, but don't know if these are all ready to be wired from the factory. Anybody know if these are pre-wired or can I just run a swith up to the dash?
when i added power windows to my truck i had to run my own wiring. i think that is only because they didnt offer power options on any 04 stx. if your truck already has some power options or if they were offered on it, then you might get lucky and already have the harnesses in there. i checked with a junk yard that has a couple of those power sliders and they told me between $250-$400, i think a new one costs a lot more. its pretty simple to change out. what kind of truck do you have?
Thanks Big Chief. I am in the process of getting a new ride, and stuck bewteen an 04 or 07 150 supercab lariat. The 07 just popped up recently and will be hard to pass on because it has half the miles and only 2k more. The difference in options is that the 04 has a power slider, and a bench seat. That is why I asked about installation of a power slider. Is it even a big deal? How hard is it to reach back and flip open a sliding rear window? Moreover, I actually prefer the bench seat than captains chairs. I know I am unusual but it is a throw-back to earlier days.... cruisin in the truck with my woman by my side.

But I can't pass up the 07 and expect to finalize the deal in about a week.

yea im pretty sure the lariat will have all the wiring. i cant remember where the switch is at but you will probably have to get one of those, and i believe the motor and regulator come with the power sliding window. mine has the manual slider and it really isnt that easy to reach back there and open or close it while driving. if you decide to do it, the only things you will need is some butyl tape (3/8" i think), adhesive remover, and a small metric socket (maybe a 5mm or 6mm but i cant remember).
