Here is how I did mine with pre bent L brackets, easy mod with no vibration to the lights.

I really like the look of the lights behind the grille. I have been considering a light bar or bull bar, but I do not like how most of them look. This might be the perfect solution for my late night driving across the lonely roads of Texas.

How do they look at night shining through the grille? I have the factory FX4 grille and I wonder if they would be bright enough with all of the blockage. I would space them between the Oval and the verticle bars, but the center horizontal bars would be right in the middle of the lights.

I like both of your solutions and it seems like it would be an easy project for the weekend.

Do you have a pointer for where you bought the lights?

What kind of lights on your truck, Dogem? Hella's? Also, how did you mount the lower part of the brackets to the truck?

Thanks,

KR-Texas

They are Hellas but the bulbs have been upgraded to 130Watt Hellas. The brackets are heavy duty L brackets bolted together to make a Z. They are bolted directly to the bumper mount and for my grill they were perfectly centered so there is no shadowing. Not sure how they would be with your grill.

Dogem,

Sorry, I forgot to ask, where did you buy the L brackets and what size did you get?

I got them at Menards, I think they were the six inch ones which were made of heavier metal then I had to cut them down so it didn't hit the front of the condensor.

KR buddy I'm in the exact same dilemma. Don't want a bullbar or light bar because I like the clean front end, but I want more lights. Also don't want to do away with the factory FX4 grille.

Yea you're right, the vertical support is pretty much dead center of the light but you don't notice it at night.

Hey KR-Texas why don't you mount 2, 3, or 4 of them behind the slot in your bumper?

I have seen guys mount their license plates in that slot, ??? but I have not seen lights down there. I might try the lights behind the grille and if I do not like it, switch to a lightbar in front.

thenewfx2 the lights look good.

for you guys with the fx4 grille take a look at smokeybear's pics in this thread. probably the best way to do it with that grille. https://www.f150online.com/forums/ot...nd-grille.html

That is not a bad choice and I will keep his idea in mind. I would like to see them mounted between the oval and the vertical bars in the same position as Dog'ems lights. They would give off the same amount of light as smokeybear's, but they would be closer to the center of the truck for a more menacing look at night.

Has anyone done this or seen it on another FX4 grille truck?
