I have this one too, I bought it to replace the smoked RECON light I got, the brake lights are alot brighter on this one and the LED cargo lights suck on the recon, the aforementioned lets you still use the filament bulbs which put out a fair amount of light

**EDIT

Found a couple pics, here's the comparison

Ya it does look good, but I was thinkin how I liked that it matched the tails better with the clear portions on the side... either way is a good choice tho!

For a blacked truck and going with the same theme, the only choice is number 4...

I like the 4th for a black truck. On your dsg it the smoke 1-2 version would probably be more visually appealing.
BUT i think that your third brake light selection should coincide with your tails.
For example i had my tails tinted. I left the rear lamp section clear. Its a lot darker than the pic, the sun and flash made it look really red.

So i looked forever for a nice matching third with LEDs and incandescents in the bed lights.... and never found one i liked. So i finally found an all red one that i liked. Looked like a stock tail with just the bed lights clear.

Tinted that... to match the lights.

And Here they are all together

04-08 Third Brake Light

F150 family and original poster,

My feedback comes delayed but can be useful to others in their future selections. I had the opportunity to visually see both Choices #1 & #4 on my truck. I now share these choices/visuals with you. I chose to go with Choice #4 for it best match my desire to go with a 'black-out' theme.

Two choices: Option #1 & #4 next to one another.

Choice#1:
This choice is nice for the black-out and smoked looked. It looks good at night as well as during the day. However, it does have a lighter appearance in the direct sunlight looking more grey. I would suggest this be the best choice for those F150 owners picking a smoke lense look for trucks outside the main vehicle color of black. Choice #4 comes with a black housing and would require painting if your truck is outside the color of Ford black on 04-08 F150s.

Choice#4:This look/product is my favorite. For 04-08 'black-out' F150 projects, this product will be a plug/play application for the gloss black housing is very very close to the standard black paint pigment on these trucks. Additionally, the inner brake light portion of the light (center) has a black plastic lining that goes well with the black housing.

I hope this helps and makes for some "I'm happy for.." decisions.

Bring this thread from the dead but I used this thread as a decision as to which light I wanted. I ended up going with #4 it cost me $35 and it looks great.

Notice my so called friend Mr. Stinkbug?

My tinted tails as well to match.

However, I'm thinking of changing it from black to DSG to match the truck. What do you guys think?
