Aftermarket wheel question.

I have had a set of eagle alloys on my truck for 5 years now, and they are starting to look pretty bad. I washed my truck only once this winter because I lived on a dirt road which was mud most of the winter and it snows like crazy all winter where I live. I did a moderate detail on the truck this weekend and the wheels look HORRIBLE. I used a mothers power ball and mothers metal polish but I still have some black dots on the wheels that don't want to come off. I was wondering if you guys had any tricks of products that you use to clean your aftermarket alloys with. I'm half thinking to put the set of FX4 wheel I have on because I feel like they are easier to take care of. That would mean buying more tires though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
