Hyperflash with LED installed

Okay, we all know why we get hyperflash and I have read several posts about people inquiring about the flasher module versus the restrictor.

I did a little research this morning and found that we CAN and HAVE a flasher relay on the 08's which I am sure that it is for all the 04+ models.

I have since replaced mine with relay EP27 that can be found at any parts store and put in place and no more hyperflash.

When it gets dark out tonight, I will take some before and after pictures of it.

Also, to find your "flasher module" look here:

Under the dash right under the steering collum you will see the large wiring harness with 5 wires coming out of it going to a box that has a blue top and is held in place with the plastic fricton clips. Take it off and that is it. Just remove the old and replace with the new and you are done.

I will be using a zip tie to put mine back on the dash since the stock module has the friction clips built in.

Took 5 min and replaced it in the auto store parking lot.

pic and video to come shortly.

Travis

For the 97-03 guys, the flasher module is basically in the same place. Mine was on a bracket kind of mounted on side of steering column. To take it out and put the new one in, you have do it all by feel. I wanted a little more working room so i bent the bracket down a bit...helped ALOT getting new one back in. Electronic flasher works great with my LED's on all 4 corners.

If you change your turn signal bulbs over to LED's then your lights will flash really fast (hyper flash) because LED's don't require as much current as incandecent lights. There are two ways to fix it. One, wire in resistors that "eat up" the extra power that the LED's don't use to fool the flasher into thinking the regular bulbs are there, or replace the flasher with one that is built to electronicaly flash no matter what the current draw.

I know this is over a month old but maybe it can help someone else. I just installed LED's in my tail lights and experienced the hyper flash situation. After reading the issues with resistor's I decided to change my flasher unit. I have a 2005 FX4 Screw. I ordered the flasher from Super Bright LED's part number EP27L for $12.95. facing the steering wheel the flasher is located behind the dash on the left side of the steering column about two inches to th left and four inches down.

I hope this helps someone.
So far this has worked great and no resistor heat problems. I will be doing the front turn signals soon.

Why is everyone buying the flasher module online and paying for shipping?

You can get them at any auto parts store.

I got mine for 10 bucks had it in hand and changed it in the parking lot.

I purchased the bulbs from Autozone but none of the local dealers had the flasher relay.
