Fix the rust...

Hey everyone,

I'm relatively new around here as it's been about 3 years since I've been in an F150. So, hey.

I've got a '97 with some rust I'd like to fix up. I just got it and got a killer deal on it. I've sanded, sealed and painted rust spots before, but I think this is a little deeper as you may be able to see from the pics.

My thoughts are to put the black plastic molding that's behind the rear tires all along the lower edge of the truck. Then, I'm going to paint the rear section below the side molding black. My question is, what is that black plastic molding behind the rear tires? Is it a specific product I can buy in sections or what?

Thanks for your help.

I'm going to try to get pics up here, but I may have to put them in a reply message to this one. We'll see how it goes.

Any other ideas? Like putting specific diamond plates on the lower section or whatever that's called?

Thanks!!
