replacing 9140 fog light bulbs

hello everyone. i was looking at replacing the 9140 fog light bulbs in my 08 f150. i found on ebay some LED bulbs that are 9005s, i was wondering if its a good idea to use these. Some people have reported their housings melting because of heat, but these are LEDs produce almost no heat. will these work?

These bulbs are intended for use as a Day Time Running light or for aesthetic purposes only

It sounds like they won't put out enough light to be usable. What 9140's are you currently using? If you haven't already look into Silverstar bulbs, they're one of the best halogen bulbs you can buy.

Another option is HIDs. They run a lot cooler then halogens, and will put out quite a lot more light.

Uncontrollably? No. You can aim the fog lights to prevent glare, or you could just turn them off.

Yes they will work, you may need to trim one of the tabs on the bulb. I managed to finagle mine into the housing without any trimming. Go with the first ones that also have side firing LEDs, The second option wont reflect off the fog light housing.

You could also check out PIAA 9005`s. they are even whiter the the SS, but the also cost more. PIAA`s also come with a 1 year warranty.
