Anyone painted a H-Bar Grille?
Anyone painted a H-Bar Grille?
I saw a 04 FX4 with my same color scheme except he had a red H-Bar grille. Looks a lot better than black imo. Is this something that came stock? I was thinking of painting mine and did a search. Found one thread but they don't say how they painted it. Paint shop or something like Krylon Fusion. Here's the thread I found.

if ur truck is the same as mine. u have a rough plastic grille. paint dosent stick that well to it. ford offers a paintable grille for the fx4. i have a 08 f150 red fx4 very similar to yours. well, i hit a deer with my truck and needed a new grille, so i had the body shop do all the work and get me the paintable grille, paint and install it.

Ok, ive been thinking about painting my H-Bar grill for some time now, havent had the time to do it, so havnt yet, but heres what i have learned.
First you should buy some "Bulldog Adhesive Promoter" it stick to all automotive surfaces and all auto paint sticks to it.
I would also buy the Dupicolor Paint that is made for your exact color of your truck, you can find what one it is at any napa or auto store ( they should have a book)
I also suggest gettin automotive Clear Coat will give it a good shine and look like it was suppose to by the color you paint it.
I would also sand the grill 600 grit should do it. Make sure the plastic is nice and clean after a quick sand to rough it up a little.
Ok, so if you want to do this, it will take time.
Apply the Bulldog paint a couple coat would be best.
Then once its dry, proceed with the paint you picked out. After it drys Wet sand with a VERY FINE sand paper or block, like 1200 grit.
I would do this a good 4 or 5 times to make the paint really smooth.
Once you have finished with the colored paint apply the Clear Coat.
i would do it 3 times or so, and wet sand with 1200 grit sand paper between each coat. Once the last coat is dry, go get a chair, set it about 10 feet from the front of your truck, sit down in it and enjoy the BEAUTIFUL grill you just spent a good amount of time on.
Now i havnt done this yet, but ive looked into it a lot and this seem to be the best way if you want it to look good.

Well i hope this works for you, i would love to see pics if you do this.
