New Headlights Not Aligning Right - HUGE Hood Gap

First off, I am in no way attempting to talk down on the person I bought these from. They are exactly as he advertised them, but I'm a bit confused now that I ahve them.

First off, my truck is a FX4 and his is a King Ranch. There isn't a headlight difference on those is there?

I'm out of town, but my room mate has installed these for me. He is a body man and can not figure out why they aren't lining up. The bolt holes and everything are fine, the HID light pattern is fine, but the hood alignment is horrible!

He can get a whole finger in between the hood and headlight. There is about a half finger gap between the headlight and grill area. He made some side to side adjustments to make this gap better, but it doesn't change the up and down gap.

These are genuine Ford lights, but I'm confused as to why they would fit so differently on mine? Granted i can't be there to see the truck right now but my room mate knows what he's doing and he is baffled as well. Unfortunately part of this deal was me sending my headlights back to him, so I am kind of stuck with these right now. My lights did not have this issue at all.

Any ideas?

A little update already. My room mate / body work guy has gotten the passenger side one to fit perfectly. Near perfect gap. Driver side is alot better, but still needs some help.

He adjusted the threaded hood bumpers, lowered the hood latch, and adjusted the bumpers down at the base of the grill as well.

He's still trying but I think he's getting pretty stuck at this point with the driver side. He says its much much better than it was, but still not quite as good as the passenger side.

Did you have him measure the stock parts and the ones you bought to see if there is a difference is size?

I had a problem with my install on my drivers side too. There is a part that is molded into the back of the lights that doesn't go all the way in (there is a small, rectangle slot for it) and for the life of me I cannot figure out why.

I've lived with it till now, but I plan on doing some more investigation this weekend since someone else has the problem too.

from the pics it looks like they are not set in the hole deep enough.. are the holes aligning to install the bolts?

I agree - something isn't lined up right from behind. If you also look along the bottom of the light, you'll see how it drops down from right to left, and the bottom left sticks out.

I bet you don't have them pushed in all the way. There is a metal piece that pushes and locks into a slot. You have to push the light in pretty stern to make it seat. That could be holding them at a bad angle.

I've removed and installed my factory headlights at least 4-5 times during the HID install process and know how they go in. I am 100% sure they are installed correctly.

If you look at the outer edge where it aligns with the fender, that line is perfect. So I know it has been installed correctly with the clip that snaps in over there. The bolts all lined up perfect too.

I think it was more of some other adjustments needing to be made w/ the hood and hinge. THe pictures he sent me now are much much better. It looks like a few small things will still need to be done w/ the driver side, but it looks much MUCH better than it did.

It might just be me but the hood doesnt seem to look lined up. It seems to be sitting a little high.

Yeah I thought the same thing when I looked at it. I haven't been home yet to see it, but he says he has lowered the hood via the bump stops behind the headlights and lowered it a little more with the hood latch by lowering it down a bit in the slots that come from Ford.

I'm just anxious to get home tonight to see the difference. Supposedly its pretty dang good.

Thats what I meant to say in my post Stealth... it is a little metal clip that wont seat all the way even when I try to force it in. The screw holes pretty much line up, but I can see that the metal clip is what is keeping it from seating correctly...

I might have to go out there right now and take another look... possibly grab some pics for you guys.
