mask the truck, sand with 600 grit sandpaper and then paint with light coats.i used krylon fusion satin black the fusion is for plastic and requires no sanding but doesnt hurt to sand them anyhow.

are you wanting to paint the whole badge or just the inner letters? i ordered red overlays for my red f150 from patriotdecals.com...they look like this when finished: http://patriotdecals.com/Images/Oval...badgeWhite.gif

i think for the price, this is a great mod, dresses up a truck very nicely.

i have a thread explaining the process, here it is:

do a search for "pics of new blackout mods"

"first off i used a 220 grit sandpaper to get the top layer of the chrome off. second used 600 grit sandpaper to give it a smooth finish. third, wiped the dust off using windex. fourth i sprayed a very, very, very thin coat of krylon fusion satin black paint. the first coat looked like it wasnt going to stick. but, be patient it will stick.the first coat was kind of like a prime coat. next i applied 5 more thin coats of paint and they are done. the satin black looks very similar to the matte black on my wheels. i think the dark shadow grey inlays that i ordered will look real nice once i put them on the painted emblems"
