HELP! HID kit or new bulbs?

I was thinking about getting new headlights for my truck. I just wanted to get new xenon or halogen bulbs and but them into my stock headlights. Is this possible, or do I have to get an HID kit and all that stuff? Any help will do? Thanks.

I bought a set of 8500K bulbs for both my heads and fogs from these folks. Cost $36 and change. Simple plug and play. Only had em in for a few days but so far i love em.

I have HID in my truck, I swapped out the headlight housings for angel eyes (with separated hi and low beams) and installed 10k HID in the low beams and the foglights. Personally, I think HIDs look so much more brilliant and are much brighter. If you're keeping your stock housing, take this into a considerable factor. Your stock housing probably uses an H13 bulb, integrated hi and low beams in one bulb. You will need a bi-xenon HID kit, and those aren't simply plug and play. You would need to wire a relay to the hi-beam connector on your lamp harness and a power wire from your battery. Most bi-xenon kits come with all that stuff, but f you're not a whiz at wiring things or can't get a hold of anyone who can, then you might want the simple halogen kinds. Those are just bulbs with a colored coating to give the color effect of HID, but are nowhere near as bright. In essence to say, they are almost identical to your stock bulbs, that easy to connect and go. If you do decide to go with a Xenon HID kit, it will consist of a weird looking bulb, a silver box called the transformer ballast, a relay for the high beam, and a fuse run inline from the battery to the relay.
