HIDS Question
HIDS Question
Hello everyone. I know another HIDS question. I have had my HIDS for over a year now and love them to death. Only problem is I have problems every so often with the left headlight is not coming on. When that happens, I turn the lights off and back on and it comes right on. Its mainly when I just start when the power has not gotten there. I added a bigger relay and that has cut it out a lot but still have the problem. Any idea how to make this better??
I want to get the foglights for the HIDS but scared it going to happen more. I do have a sub with amp, built in radar dector, built in navigation running off the battery. What do you guys suggest. I know a lot people will say a cap, but I was having this problem before I got my system.
Thanks

same problem happened to me. First switch the ballast's. If it still does the same thing on the left side then it is the bulb itself. If it now does not come on on the left side then it is a faulty ballast. I had a lifetime warranty on the HID kit so i sent in the ballast, and i had a new one a couple days later. If you don't have time to do all that or it is an inconvenience to do it all then mine works when i turn on the lights before i turn on the car.
Hope it helps!

I have replaced bulb and balist before. Still every so often it happens. When I turn them on before the truck starts, they usually come on or the left one starts then cuts out. Do you think I will have more problems if I get the fogs too???

The fogs won't cause more problems. The problem with your HIDs is most likely linked to ballast. I would contact the seller for a replacement, or like D suggested switch the ballast. From what you're saying i'm confident that the problem is the ballast. Not the relay.
Try switching the ballast and see if the problem switches to the other light. Then contact the person you got it form. That should be the easiest. The dealer you got it from should be able to tell you what it is if it is not the ballast.
Are you using a relay? If not... that's your problem.
As for the fogs, the only problem you will run into is when you turn them on at first, the headlights will switch to highbeam. Easy fix... search the forums for "HIDs and highbeams" or something and it will come up.

It happens due to the fogs and highbeams sharing a ground wire. This causes the fogs to go off when the highbeams come on (when you have a halogen set up) adding HIDs messes with this system. All you need to do is provide the fogs with their own ground. Its very simple and takes about 10 min. Costs maybe $0.50.

i have after market fogs and wired them separately to their own switch.
but I have that same problem too, sometimes the drivers side HID wont turn on, but it will eventually after I turn them off and on (sometimes more than one try, but I don't flash em really fast)
Could it be a bad ballast?
I just sent an email to the seller.
thanks
