Removing Chrome Mirror Caps

If you look in my sig, I have some goofy looking chrome caps that fit over my side mirror. I don't know if the previous owner bought the cheap plastic chrome package from Ford, or bough them and put them on. But I know that they can come off, but with the chance of breaking the front of the mirror housing off. Any good ways to get this crap off?

most likely they are just covers

if u grab a hairdryer, and heat em up, you should be able soften the glue, an start pullin them off.

I went out there and just started tearing them apart. I took a flat head screw driver, pair of pliers, and a big bottle of goof off. Needless to say, it came off somewhat easily. It left a few marks on the black plastic but a little armor-all. I also took the chrome off that surrounds the tailgate handle but left it on the handle itself. I never thought to use a hairdryer and melt the glue on the inside, I kind of wish I did, but it sure does look better without the lame plastic/chrome cap.
