No, it goes on the outside. 1 can should work for all three lights. Yes, you will want a good quality clear coat.

i like the harley tails better. people that spray their lights leave the reverse lights white which stands out too much imo.

not trying to hijack the thread here but i found the HD tails on ebay...
It says that they fit the Harley Davidson edition only:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06...spagenameZWDVW

they really look like the same assembly that's on my '06 XLT...am i missing something here?

I got mine from:

www.tascafordparts.com

It looks like the price of them has increased since I got mine a couple of weeks ago as they're around 80 buck plus shipping now. Mine fit fine on an '04 XLT. I would think those eBay ones would fit fine, but you may want to ask the seller first. I doubt that the HD edition has different fitament, but who knows these days....also make sure that you get either styleside or flareside lights as they ARE different.

I considered VHT'ing my tails also because I wasnt sure that the Harleys would be dark enough to notice, but I talked myself out of it because I know I would have the VHT scratched up/off by branches or rock chips, and I knew the Harleys would have a better final 'look' to them than any 7 dollar can of spray on tint too. Over the years the Harley will look just like when I put them on...I knew if I sprayed them they wouldnt.
Here is a pic of my Harleys too...the sun is shining about directly into them so they look a little lighter than usual also.
I still plan on spraying my 3rd brake like completly black like NCSU. Ill deal with the Nightshades up there because its less prone to getting stratched/chipped up there, and not as noticable up on top of the cab if it starts to look chitty.

Its hard to get a sense of what they really look like in a picture....They look better in person than any picture I have ever seen of them.

Bartak1,
What brand are your nerf bars?

I like the HD tails on the black truck. I am going to get some for mine. If I don't like them I can always nightshade my stock tails.

Hmmm....

IMPO, the nightshaded ones (darkly done) look best. But I can't risk getting my truck rear ended, and having somebody else's insurance not paying for it, because I "illegally modified" my tail lights.

The Hella's don't look darker.... or should I say, like something which would work extra well on a blacked out vehicle, just more light output from the LED's. I might play with LED in the future, but too many $$$ for now.

This leads me to my current choice of the HD tail lights.

But what about jimithng's question above
i found the HD tails on ebay...

I have heard the HD's are only in the $60 to $80 price range..... But where is a good place to buy them ???
I couldn't find them by way of JJbraves Itasca link......

Anyone ?

Thanks,
Fish

Westins...wanna buy em? I put them back on to save the paint from rock chips till I get something else done, probably make something that will protect the paint a little better and wont fold up like a taco when I run over a downed tree or something.

If I actually had something built and would be willing to take these nerfs off, then yes. But I know with the way these tires stick out, I wont have any paint left on the side of the truck in a week if I take them off.

I have no idea when I will get around to making something to replace these...how soon are you looking to get a some???????

They have rock chips on the front and back edges, and could use a good shine job, otherwise they arent too bad. I just put them back on two weeks ago so they arent destroyed yet Otherwise they were only on the truck for about a month right after I got it before I took them off (were on the truck when I bought it)

If your looking for a nice pretty set that isnt all chipped up though, you probably dont want these

Just curious as to what all you did, bcuz thats how I want mine to look. Like what grade sandpaper did you use? How many coats of the tint and clear coat did you use? ect...
