Worth a try????

I have been looking at a 97 F150 that has been sitting on the used lot at the local Dodge stealership for several months. Actually, I have been looking at the Depo clear heads and corners that it has. I have been thinking about calling the dealership and offering them $100 and my stock headlights and corners (which are in like-new condition) for the Depos.

On one hand I'm thinking they might go for it since they would actually be replacing an aftermarket part with a nice factory part and earning an extra $100 on the truck at the same time.

On the other hand I'm thinking they are probably worth more to them on the truck and they will probably laugh at me.

What do you guys think?

Well I called and must have blown the sales dude's mind because he put me through to the manager. He said he didn't want to mess with the truck....just wanted to leave it the way it is. I can understand that and don't mind being told no, but he was a little bit of a jerk. Oh well, all it cost was the phone call. And the search continues.......

have a friend go up there and act like he is interested in the truck. but he wont take it unless it has stock headlights. then you call them back and ask if they still dont want to trade.

I would be lying if I said that this thought didn't atleast briefly cross my mind. I am all over the city at all hours of the night at work...it would be no problem at all. But alas, I am just too honest of a person.

I really think part of the reason he was a jerk is because he didn't like some customer telling him that his vehicle has aftermarket parts on it. I really doubt they know enough about it to have even realized it He was probably also upset that I wasn't calling about the actual truck which has been sitting there for 3 or 4 months.

Probably, everytime i get my oil changed at Ford they freak out because i have a K&N filter, an they insist i take it out and replace it with an OEM paper filter, an they tell me all this b/s about how it will ruin my engine an allow large pieces of sand into the combustion chamber B/S!!

Yeah, he was probably expecting you to buy the entire truck, an you got his hopes up then told him you just wanted the headlights lol

drive a different car up there and ask to go on a test drive in the truck, and he he lets you drive it alone take it to your house and switch the headlights real quick and say you didnt like the truck and be done with it!

Yeah, I know. I could jack them with no problem and no one would probably ever know. I just can't bring myself to do it.

On a totally separate and unrelated topic.....how much of a window do you think a person would have to allow themself in order to remove and reinstall a set of headlights in an F150??

JUST KIDDING!!!! Seriously, don't answer that.

Getting under the hood is just a matter of waiting until someone forgets to lock it. I find new and used vehicles on dealership lots unlocked all the time. The best one was when I found the keys in a brand new Charger R/T Daytona. I couldn't help but fire it up and rev it a time or two. Dodge or not, it sounded good!
