Question on HID's

Im new to HID's and have a few questions. I have Harley lamps...what kit would work good with them? Should I go just low or high also? What wattage do I have to get? If I go to high will I have to worry about melting? I've searched already and couldnt find the answer.

Thanks

You could get the HIDs from HID4U on ebay. Just get the same size as the one you have in now (I think it's H13.) You could get a bi-xenon kit, for some extra money, that would allow you to keep your high beams. They shouldn't melt the assembly since all it does is move the bulb to a different position. Others with more info will post

Elvator got it mostly right. you need an H13 bulb. HIDs dont go by watts they go by kelvin. keep it at or below 6000k so you can keep some light output. The light output goes down at the kelvin goes up. so 4300k is going to give off the most light and be close to stock color (white with a little yellow) 6000k is the white with a tint of blue, those are the ones you see on most foreign makes.

They wont melt the headlights or reflectors. I would recommend the Hi/Lo kit, its nice to have the highbeams when you need them.

it doesnt matter where you get them from there are tons of places online. HID4U is great but its not a complete "plug and play" kit. You will need to splice them into the current harness.

any more questions feel free to PM me

Not true. I have their bixenon kit and it was plug and play. Thier generic kit requires splicing.

I recommend keeping your high beam (go with the bixenon kit). The low beam gives off a much better light pattern then the generic kit (the one without high beams).

Check out my gallery, i have the Bixenon kit from HID4U as well as fog HIDs. All are 6000k color.

if u want something less expensive go by seller ZGPerformance, but if you want the hi/lo u have two choices
hi halogen and lo hid
or both hid
the bixenon doesnt neccesarily give it brighter light but it is noticable
seller Buyhid2007 has good kits as well

Yeap thats what you need

But dont go with 12000k, you will loose alot of light output. Its the same thing as putting black lights in your headlights. Pretty to look at, but not really functional. Go with 6000k or lower

To give you an idea on installing them. No melting. You only get melting from High wattage Halogens because they overload the ground wires and melt the harness.

Yes that is all you need. You will be stunned by the light output. I also recommend 6000k. 5000k is white, 4300k is stock color, and 6000k is white with slight blue hint. I run 6000k and it is the BOMB.

Should I have to worry about being pulled over by cops with HID's if there pointed in a good direction?

Also, do you think I should go with the fogs right away too? if so , will th h10's fit my round fog housings?

Thanks...

If aimed properly you will likely be okay, however, they are illegal. Yes, H10's will fit the round fogs, that is what I have.
