Question Removing FX4 Decal?

Ok, I just my new decals in from PatriotDecals and I'm wondering what the best method is to remove the existing decals from my truck? I don't have any way to use a hair dryer as there are no plugs near by my truck. I figure if I'm careful I can pull back a small amount and the slowly but surely use my GooGone on the adhesive? Would this method work, or is there any chance I may be risking damaging my truck's paint? (GooGone is apparently safe for the paint, I'm more concerned if the existing decal will damage the paint.)

There are only two ways
1) hair dryer (or heat gun) this is the hands down best way. Get and extension cord!
2) 3M eraser wheel - for removing body striping. You can put it on a cordless drill, but they cost about $45.

anything else will leave behind the residue. You will need "wash and wipe" (a bodyshop solvent for residues) along with a stong elbow

what year is your truck ?? My 01 I just used my finger nail on a corner on a warm day and it peeled right off ... A little wax to clean off the residue and I was all good.. Except that you could see where the decal was because the paint was fresh under the decal and the truck was 6-7 years old when I did it. You can't tell from a couple of feet away

I used a heat gun but hair dryer will work fine. I then wiped any excess residue left behind with goo-gone and treated the area with wax.(I did not want my badges back on)

Thats what I'm worried about when trying to decide if I should remove the STX stickers from my 2005.

Will it eventually fade over time?

when i did mine i used window tint application spray. it allows you move the decal into position and then squeegee out the bubbles.. that the best method IMO

I bought the large 3m eraser wheel from a body shop for $25. Most professional body shops use the eraser wheel to do this. It is by far the easiest method for removing decals, stripes etc, from your ride.

I used it to remove the factory stripes from my Toyota and it only took about 45 min to do both sides. You would never do that with a heat gun!

After
