That is EXACTLY why I just forked out the cash and bought the Harley's.

I used to have a Honda Civic back in the day and I tried the exact same thing. I pretty much went through all the trouble you did and I hated it. Not only that but I ruined a good pair of headlights trying to get them apart and I actually had to buy another pair. Then they kept fogging up because I didn't seal them right. UGH.

That's why when I bought my truck and wanted black headlights I just bought the real deal.

They look good on your truck though.

Thinking of doing ptm on my (or spare) headlights and ptm an fx4 grille.
Nope, with the angles you couldn't get it cut out. Plus mine was way too hard for a knife. Like I said, it was work with a dremel grinding tool to get the excess out of the grooves of mine.

They look great!
However, after reading your post, it makes me glad I ordered the Hella headlights the other day vs. trying to do mine.
Plus, the wife didn't really want them in our new oven.

I do the cooking...therefore it's MY kitchen! If I want to bake headlights, then I can. If I want to clean up a freshly bondo'd and sanded gas tank in the kitchen sink, I can.

However, I haven't tried running engine parts through the dishwasher, but I know guys who have. Some lived to tell about it.

I'm one of those. I'm not married though.

Hella nice (pun intended?)

I want to do it to my dad's truck, which looks a lot like "Ballin STX"'s. I see the black in the lights looks really nice. Maybe I might convince him to do it.

Again, it looks very nice.

Welp, she's a great cook, and unless I want to take over that chore (not really) I'll leave the stove alone!
Plus, I haven't learned to sleep with one eye open yet!

Hmm im wondering how those lights would have looked PTMed.

Yellow lights and a yellow ptm grille would definantly be an eyecatcher.

And i never thought of washing parts thru the dishwasher....
high pressure, hot water... steam.. a little gojo fast orange in the "soap" dispenser.... it all makes sense now....

(goes off into the dark, pray for me, i may not make it back lol)

I thought about the ptm on the headlights, but I didn't know if I'd be able to duplicate the yellow close enough at home. I knew black would look good and go well with the grill.

No yellow grill. That'd be too much yellow...if that's possible. Here's an example of too much yellow. Sorry for posting a competitor here but it is an example of what NOT to do.

Well, it's been a week and the pain of the project has worn off a little bit. Was it worth it? Well, if I was flat broke and had a lot of time on my hands, then I'd say yes. But since it's only $219 for the Hellas from tirerack...I almost think I should have gone that route. I just figured that was $219 that could go elsewhere...but if I had it to do all over again, I'd have just gotten the Hellas, spent 30 minutes dropping them in and enjoyed it.

I'm glad that's what I did!
I put mine in over the weekend, and stupid me, I forgot to aim 'em!
Boy, did that make the ride home last night fun! However, I can tell you from experience that they can shine almost as high as the street lamps do!
