installed some reverse lights

so i got layed off and was bored yesterday and decided to install some reverse lights. went to wallyworld and bought some cheap "driving lights"

they need to be angled out more and a bit brighter. other than that i'm pretty happy.

if i put an led in there would that help?

taken with my phone . . .

i like em cause where they're mounted you can't even see them.

like i mentioned above they need to be adjusted outward. might try to stack some washers to get the angle.

i need to tighten up the wiring but it was getting dark and i didn't feel like messing with it anymore

Nice job. One word of (possible) caution though. If those are standard 55 watt halogen bulbs, that would be an extra 110 watts - or 9 amps of load on that circuit. Several folks here have noted that this is enough of an additional load to cause problems with your factory reverse light switch over time - unless you switch them through a relay. I know this sounds silly, but they just don't build much headroom into the electrical circuits on cars or trucks anymore.

306Stang: Good job on the install. Looks simple and clean! I like it. If it isn't too much of a hassle, and if you can remember, you think you can snap a photo of those lights on during the night ? Both from the back and maybe one from up in your truck? I wana see if those little 55 Watt bulbs will be bright enough? thanks for the help

2stroke- lights are wired into a switch. good looking out though.

msh- yup 30% on windshield 5% strip. night time is fine. it's kinda tough seeing out of the side windows but other than that no problems. no glare or reflections. i would do it again in a heartbeat. best thing is that you don't have to wear sunglasses as often and you don't see inside most of the truck. the only part you see is the dash.

mtech- sure will. they weren't as bright as i expected but they help out tremendously! i would love to put some brighter bulbs in but hey, i was bored and it was only $20 . . . i'll take it
