more interior light

im not sure if this is the right place to put this so feel free to move it moderators.

i made a mod to my dome light(check my gallery to see) it looks awesome and gives off a awesome color but not enough light anymore. i found a site that sells strips of led lights. my plan was to get two sections, put a strip up under the dash in each footwell to light it up. also i was going to try to wire it so that it would turn on when the dome light did, or just when the door was opened. so 2 questions
a)is this a good idea?(the led strips)?
b)how do i wire it into the dome light or to make it turn on when the doors open?

any ideas or sugestions would be great

I did 6 inch neons in the floor boards of my old vehicle... Oznium.com sells LED dome lights and they are fairly cheap.... the LED strips would be cool... as far as gettin them to come on with the dome light.... there should be dome light wiring coming from the interior fuse box.... find the appropriate wires (positive and neg) and viper tap into them.

im going to go with two of the 9.5" ones of these http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips

and then hook it up to one of these
http://www.oznium.com/rocker-switch

i know ill need some wire(what gague?sp?) and some connectors (what type? ive only done male to female and the sleve connectors, none trying to tap into an existing wire). im thinking about puting the switch in the same location as the airbag light but on the other side to keep some symetry. any suggestions or ideas? thanks for the help

I get all of my supplies at the local hardware store (Ace Hardware) you should be able to pick up connectors and everythign from there for nt much money... as for guage of wire... when you get the strips... get yoru guage wire as close to whats attatched to the strip as possible.
