Headlights care

I've looked around and noticed my recent experience isn't typical around here. i have had a build up on my one headlight that was turning opaque and actually had me thinking it was moisture inside. It seemed to me to be a hard water deposit but nothing i used for household cleaning seemed to make it come off easier. so i used a blade and scraped it off, only problem with that was i put a small gouge in the plastic once and that sucks! has anyone else run into a similar problem where something builds up on the outside of the lense and turns opaque and is seemingly hard to remove? anyone have some tips on what to try?

I had the same problem when I had those crummy Halo headlights, one reason why I ditched them, my right headlight oxidized way faster, and most of the time the sun was beating on the drivers side.

My headlights are old and also need to be cleaned. Are they easy to take apart to get to the inside? I'm not an automotive expert but I am good at figuring things out. I just want to know if this is something I can do.

u just have to melt the glue holding them together. use a heat gun, or you could try putting them in the oven.

thanks for the idea, gonna try it on the contour cause its horrible lol. its odd cause my right headlight always looked moist and the driverside always looked dry, both had equal sunlight most of the time. yet the right side had the build up that was interfering with lights performance.
also, which direction are the vents suppose to point? up or down?

down, that way no new moisture can inside from a drip, and then the hoses don't funnel it into the headlight
